Selection Policy

State League Team

 

This Policy is designed to develop a selection criteria so that a rational and easy to understand format to ensure player understanding on how selections are made and on what basis.

Acknowledgement is made however that some selections will have a degree of controversy especially in the area current form and contribution to the team.

 

The process is as follows:

 

The Club State league Coach submits a list of players from which the team will be selected. All players are aware of the team by way of the Club website.

 

Selection is made on the following basis

 

Last game contribution

Attendance at the three weekly training sessions

Training attitude and approach to coaching direction and commitment to team goals

Team balance and specific roles required for opposition teams

 

 

1.      Last Game Contribution

 

The team Coach will review each players performance and role within the team based upon the previous Game or Games, this will include a review of statistics from previous game and will be subject to availability.

 

2.     Attendance at the three weekly training sessions

 

Attendance at training is based upon the criteria that each player will attend 3 training sessions each week ( Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday Morning)

Non attendance at any training session will be noted and will form part of the criteria for selection. This will be based upon the requirement for each player to attend the training sessions as notified by the Coach.

Regardless of any reason for non attendance or late attendance at a training session a player that misses one (1) or more training sessions will not be guaranteed automatic selection for the next game.

 

 

3.     Training attitude and approach to coaching direction and commitment to team goals

 

Each player will be assessed during each training session to his commitment to teamwork, training drills and skills. These skills and commitment will be considered when selecting the team.

 

 

4.     Team balance and specific roles required for opposition teams

 

The Team Coach will select each team (State League) based on the requirement to provide the most competitive team for each game based on knowledge of opposition teams, players and availability of players to undertake identified roles on behalf of the team.

 

 

Conclusion

 

Application of this policy rests with the appointed State League Coach; the policy is an overview of the selection criteria for the State League team and should be applied at all times in the best interest of the East Fremantle Lacrosse Club.

Any player who finds him self being not selected in the State League Team, must first refer to the 4 point criteria above for answers before seeking additional information from the Team Coach.

    
      It should be noted also that the State League Coach has the authority to make selections that he believes are warranted in circumstances not mentioned or covered in the              above points.
